He encouraged my desire to become a full time artist.

1. Music                

Head treble Chorister Grace Church on the Hill 1947-1950
Performed in North American premiere of Sir Benjamin Britten's "St, Nicholas Cantata"
conducted by the composer with Sir Peter Pears as the adult Nicholas.
(I sang the role of young Nicholas.)
Grade 9 singing, Grade 11 theory Toronto Conservatory 1950
Studied voice at all stages of my career

Member of many choirs over the years with considerable solo experience.

 

2. Visual Arts                  

Self-taught and educated
Drawing and painting from childhood on
Began exhibiting in 1960's starting with an exhibition in the Mermaid Theatre in London UK
Twice chosen for cover art, Canadian Medical Association Journal
Exhibited with A.Y. Jackson at the Klinkoff Gallery in Montreal 1965
Yearly exhibitions solo and group over the years spent in Kenya at Gallery Watatu, the Goethe
Institute and the French Cultural centre in Nairobi. 1968-82
Three large murals, 2 for hotels and one for the medical school library, Nairobi !968-1974
Many portraits done in Kenya
After returning to Canada began exhibiting with Art Dialogue Gallery, Toronto 1982-84;
Headhunters Portrait Group, Newmarket 1984-1996; and the Studio artists of Caledon East.                                          

Elected to the Ontario Society of Artists 1989, and served on the executive from 1990 as
OSA vice president and then became President from 1994-96 and still serve as a director  
Member of the Caledon East annual studio tour and ran my own Karibuni Gallery from my
Studio with yearly exhibitions. Member Gallery 96 artist run centre Stratford, Ontario

Studied and painted during summers of 1996 to 2009 at the Florence Academy of Art, in Italy.
Solo exhibition at the Arts and Letters club of Toronto 2002 ( I am a member)
Recipient of the Queen's Jubilee Medal 2003 for contribution to Ontario culture
Solo exhibition the Gallery Stratford 2006
Many group exhibitions over the years with the OSA, the Headhunters and Gallery 96
artist run centre in Stratford.
Member of the Portrait Society of Canada and awarded a first prize, a people's choice award 
and two honourable mentions at the last four conventions and competitions.
